Janelle Monáe

No Janelle Monáe isn't only here to satisfy your robosexual amputee fetishes, her music sounds damn good to. Just listen to that angelic voice, why she doesn't do more of that stuff is beyond my comprehension. Unfortunately the song is that short. But that doesn't mean the rest of her stuff isn't any good, quite the contrary. Metropolis Suite 1 - The Chase, which is the first part of an album divided into 4 EPs, contains two more goodies entitled Violet Stars Happy Hunting (which was a US single last summer) and Many Moons which is my favorite. I believe they both are produced by Andre 3000 of OutKast.

I can't shake that opera vibe though, I actually forced myself to walk home today playing that song on repeat for over an hour. It just makes me look at things differently, I don't know why...

And remember: VOLUME UP!

I'm fucking Ben Affleck

Sarah Silvermans video, which started it all, was pretty damn funny too, but nothing could top seeing Josh Groban and McLovin like that.

If you're new to the Kimmel/Damon feud take a look at these first.

Best of by:Larm

So by:Larm is over, we had a great time, saw a lot of bands, drank way too much beer and met a lot of interesting new people.

The absolute highlight was when we stumbled into Blå and saw Binärpilot, which ended up being the only act we saw twice. Put your dancing shoes on and turn the volume up way high before playing this insane track:

Honorable mentions goes out to Looptroop, Ida Maria, Lykke Li, Miss Li and Casiokids - which all held fantastic concerts.

Things have changed

A worried man with a worried mind
No one in front of me and nothing behind
There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne
Got white skin, got assassin's eyes
I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies
I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train

Standing on the gallows with my head in a noose
Any minute now I'm expecting all hell to break loose

People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

This place ain't doing me any good
I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood
Just for a second there I thought I saw something move
Gonna take dancing lessons do the jitterbug rag
Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag
Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove

Lot of water under the bridge, Lot of other stuff too
Don't get up gentlemen, I'm only passing through

People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

I've been walking forty miles of bad road
If the bible is right, the world will explode
I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can
Some things are too hot to touch
The human mind can only stand so much
You can't win with a losing hand

Feel like falling in love with the first woman I meet
Putting her in a wheel barrow and wheeling her down the street

People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

I hurt easy, I just don't show it
You can hurt someone and not even know it
The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity
Gonna get low down, gonna fly high
All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie
I'm in love with a woman who don't even appeal to me

Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake
I'm not that eager to make a mistake

People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

Sushi

I have to admit, even though I find Sushi delicious it scares the living daylights out of me. Prepared in the wrong hands, it's the type of food that can leave you scarred for life. Thats why I did a bit of research before trying out a new place today.

First things first, Dagbladet's Fredag should really incorporate some kind of tags system, I'm pretty sure - or at least I hope - they ate at more than 5 sushi restaurants.

Nicely designed blog This Way Design offers up his top 5 Sushi places.

But the real go-to place for Sushi info in Oslo is Sushi or Death, which has a no bullshit approach, rich in content and locations. Sure made me hungry!

Starter midnatt!

I love getting mail!

It only took me about 4 years, but I finally got my hands on Arvid ft Ernesto - Try via Juno Records. From the once-very-relevant-what-happened-to-you-guys Naked Music comes probably my favorite cocktail-lounge-club-record.

Ridiculously easy unlocked iPhones

Reknowned iPhone source ModMyIfone.com har just released a GUI for Zibri's ZiPhone which makes jailbreaking, activating and unlocking a one-click prosedure, which is just... insane. Especially when you take into consideration that this works on all(!) iPhones. Just check the boxes you wish to apply (ie. if you're on a legal AT&T account just tick the jailbreak box). A restore in iTunes is recommended before you use it. Norwegian source unlock.no has made a GUI for Windows users which is just as easy to use.

February desktop and iPhone update

I've updated my runway of geekfashion to include iPhone and Leopard February screenshots.

And while we're on the subject, totally tworthy article on wallpapers!

Twitterworthy?

So you think you're Twitterworthy? Or that your links are tworthy material? Add me and I'll follow you as well

Attention all hipsters!

No, snowjogs will never look cool, never!

The Whip - X Marks Destination

Aah, yes, who doesn't want to be trash? The Whip's debut album is up for grabs on certain illegal spots, but if you want to take the legal approach (as you should) it's available for preorder at their MySpace page.

The complete tracklist should be:
01 - Trash
02 - Save My Soul
03 - Frustration
04 - Blackout
05 - Muzzle #1
06 - Sirens
07 - Divebomb
08 - Sister Siam
09 - Dubsex
10 - Throw it in the Fire

While I've played Trash so much I almost can't listen to it anymore, Blackout - which is also available at their MySpace - is pretty cool too.

1.1.3 Fully unlocked

iPhone hacker slash God GeoHot has found an exploit that allows for a full software unlock for the iPhone's latest firmware. While the firmware has been available to hacked iPhone users for some time, this has required an extra sim card (TurboSim, HyperCard or similar) for people who bought their phones with firmware 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 already installed (due to a difference in the bootloader (v3.9 vs v4.6)).

So what does this mean? iPhone hacking just got a little easier, and definitely cheaper, which means you should see a pricedrop in prehacked iPhones. X-cards just got outdated (at least until the next roadbarrier introduced by Apple) and people should be able to use Apples latest baseband on their phones, enabling all the current features and eliminating some of the fear related to hacking the device. And yes, the hack also works on the new 16GB model.

Still not getting it? If you want one, go buy one. Now is the time!

(Pretend) viral marketing

If you didn't catch it, it's a commercial, for a videogame, which means that this unfortunately is another one of those sneaky commercials which wants you to question whether it's real or not. Like the old Ronaldinho commercial and the slightly less credible Michael Vick and Lebron James Powerade commercials.

Nevertheless it makes for some saucy marketing which guarantees watercooler time. The interesting part is this clip which actually documents how they made the Ronaldinho clip:

1.1.3

Nytt:
- Du kan rearrangere Springboard selv
- Hybridview, Drop Pin og Locate Me i Google Maps
- Sende tekstmeldinger til flere samtidig
- Webclips
