Can't Mix For Shit Volume 2

Celebrating almost a 100 downloads on Volume 1, I'm following up with Can't Mix For Shit 2, which continues to erect a middle finger at diversity requirements. Some artists might be a little overrepresented *Cough*Lifelike*Cough*, but who cares when the tracks are this good!

Daft Punk vs Pointer Sisters - Underground (7UP Radio Mix)
A whitelabel edit I know absolutely nothing about...

Fleetwod Mac vs Lifelike - Never Forget So Electric (Cut Copy Fusion)
Fleetwod Mac is a long time favorite of mine, and as you're going to notice from the number of Lifelike appearances on this tape, he is a new one. This amazing fusion originally appeared on the So Cosmic mixtape by Cut Copy.

Deadelus - Make It So (XXXChange Remix)
This track has a downtempo feel to it, but at the same time packs a lot of energy and has spectacular bridges.

The Count & Sinden featuring Kid Sister - Beeper (A-Trak Remix)
I really like the original, but as with everything else A-Trak, this remix came out golden. That beeper sound is driving me nuts though, it sounds exactly like my doorbell.

The Presets - This Boy's In Love (Lifelike Remix)
To an even greater extent than the previous track, I find the original absolutely awesome. I even used the Kernkraft 400 remix in my previous tape. This is off the same promo and is just as fantastic, if not better.

UNKLE - Restless (Fake Blood Remix)
Fake Blood whips up some of the craziest stuff I've ever heard, and this track is completely nuts. It took me awhile before I figured it out, but now I loose the ability to sit still when I hear it.

Cut Copy - Lights & Music (Boys Noize Happy Birthday Mix)
I was planning on having this on the first volume but it never happened, and I'm still not tired of it. It's an awesome touchup of the original, and I feel it adds some of the dynamics I miss in general on the latest Cut Copy.

Lykke Li - I'm Good I'm Gone (Fred Falke Remix)
I was quite excited about this remix and it's always a great feeling when you're expectations are met. Fred Falke adds some beautiful melodic touches to one of Lykke Li's best songs.

Estelle featuring Kanye West - American Boy (Stockholm Syndrome Official Remix)
This track packs a great summer vibe and has infinite potential for becoming a dancefloor hit this year.

Petter - Goda Dagars Magi (Jeansie Blend)
Jeansbjörn blends swedish rapper Petter with Madonna's Holiday, creating an upbeat and funny vibe, which you should be able to dance drunkenly to.

Cazals - Somebody Somewhere (Lifelike Remix)
Another one of his magical touchups, I have to see this guy play sometime.

Trip - Who's That (Jack Beats Remix)
If I'm not mistaken Plus One is 50% of Jack Beats and largely responsible for the insane dubbed out twist this track takes.

Boys Noize - Oh! (A-Trak Remix)
Very weird but insanely cool. Boys Noize + A-Trak = nuff said.

Teyana Taylor - Google Me (Konjoined Remix)
Another one those summervibe tracks. The way this 16 year old sounds over the Konjoined remix is soooo much better than the original.

Cole Medina - Red Hot / Tron Scott's Freaks in Space - Prog Rocks And Moon Jocks
I yanked this puppy out from Todd Terjes Resident Advisor podcast, and have pretty much been unable to find out anything about it. The cutout spans over two or three tracks, and I'm confused as to what's what, but those lyrics sound so damn tight over that beat I couldn't help myself putting the whole thing on.

KITSUNE077: The Cazals - Somebody Somewhere

Kitsuné never stops delivering. This time it's The Cazals and their single from upcoming What Of Our Future (due May 19) that's bringing the funk. But what makes this gem sparkle is Lifelike's fantastic remix.

Stockholm Syndrome

It's been quiet around here for the last week due to the fact that I'm wrapping up my bachelors degree and school is kind of crazy.

I tried to catch up with my reader the other day and Stockholm Syndrome is something that deserves mentioning, even though I really don't have time for blogging.

If their American Boy remix doesn't end up being a summer favorite, something is seriously wrong somewhere.

They also did a fantastic "Mixing it up" session for Discobelle which is worth getting your hands on!

I will be keeping my eye out for anything these guys do in the future.

Three 6 Mafia - I'd Rather

I wasn't feeling this initially, but today I woke today with this ringing in my head and I can't seem to shake it.

Scandinavian Hip Hop Invasion

So I caught up with this mixtape today, which is a serious collection of Scandinavian artists who has been holding it down for quite some time.

Well, at least some longer than others, the exception being Junior Natural who is representing the Reggae part of the tape. Which is sort of, ehh, weird, seeing as he's a) thirteen years old b) white and c) from Uppsala. I know what you might be thinking, but keep in mind that the Swedes have a knack for Reggae. This kid is more than just a novelty feature, check out his MySpace for some tracks

Chords ft Timbuktu - Places to Go (Live in Paris)

My favorite track from the new Chords album. YouTube user thesaladday has more videos from the Scandinavian Invasion tour in France with Chords & Timbuktu.

Busy Swedes: New Looptroop and new Chords

Chords is out with a new album: Things We Do For Things
Personal note: That Places To Go track is fan-tastic!

Looptroop reappears in their new shape Looproop Rockers, after CosMIC apparently left to take care of the crew's website..? Anyway Good Things is available at iTunes

Also as a couple of bonuses, previously mentioned Henok Achido's single Can I is also available in iTunes, and Promoes contribution to Diversidad along with Akhenaton, Noora Noor and others is live over at YouTube. The conclusion of April truly was a great time for Swedish hiphop.

The Kooks

For some reason I never sat down and listened to The Kooks, but tonight through random events I ended up playing their latest album, and I'm totally blown away. I have to get more of their stuff. And there's more to it, this actually made me settle on a festival this summer: Hove here I come!

Body-beatboxing

Norwegian blog Lydverket has dug up an interesting twist on the concept of beatboxing. Whatever party trick you got up your sleeve, I'm guessing it won't top this. Head over to the original post for more videos.

Henok Achido - Can I

It's about time this track got a video!
